In a significant stride towards sustainable development, the National Data Center (PDN) was recently honored with the prestigious Bangunan Gedung Hijau (BGH) certification, achieving the highest credential, “Utama”. This accolade was presented on the 13th of May 2024, where representatives from the Regional Government of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) formally recognized PDN’s commitment to green building practices.
As the world grapples with escalating climate issues, the need for sustainable infrastructure has never been more critical. Buildings contribute substantially to global carbon emissions and energy consumption, making the adoption of eco-friendly practices imperative. The BGH Utama certification is a testament to PDN’s dedication to mitigating environmental impact through sustainable design and construction.
Yadi Krisnadi, Chairman & Advisor of Ecobuild Green Building Consultant addressed the important green features of this building in managing the site, improving energy and water efficiency, maintaining indoor air quality, environmentally friendly materials, and managing waste and wastewater in his technical presentation during the ceremony.
During the ceremony, officials from PUPR commended the Ministry of Communication and Information for their visionary approach and unwavering commitment to sustainability. They highlighted the importance of such initiatives in the broader context of climate action and environmental preservation. The BGH Utama certification not only acknowledges the high standards maintained by PDN but also sets a benchmark for other government buildings to follow.
The Ministry of Communication and Information expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed their dedication to implementing sustainable practices in all future projects. This certification serves as an inspiration for other institutions to prioritize green building initiatives and contribute to the nation’s environmental goals.
